PURIFYING CLEANSING OIL
The effects of surfactants on the skin include tightening, roughening, and irritating effects. If the main types of surfactants (hereinafter referred to as surfactants) are distinguished, facial cleansers can be divided into soap based, amino acid based, and complex types [1].
(1) Soap based facial cleanser
Soap base is formed by neutralization of fatty acids and bases, which generally include lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid. The base used for neutralization is usually potassium hydroxide.
Soap based facial cleanser has the characteristics of texture, rich foam, smoothness and density, strong cleaning ability, easy washing, and refreshing after use.
Due to the alkalinity of fatty acid salts, pure soap based products with pH 9-10 are not suitable for skin pH values of 5, so they are not gentle enough on the skin and can cause tightness and dryness after washing for people with fragile skin.
(2) Amino acid facial cleanser
Amino acid type facial cleanser is a neutral to weakly acidic cleanser composed mainly of amino acid system surfactants and low irritant cleaning agents.
Due to the moderate cleansing power, good foaming performance, excellent flushing performance, good affinity with the skin, low irritation, and disadvantage of amino acid surface activity, it has weak foaming power.
There are many types of amino acid surfactants, and amino acid based cleansing products mainly include glycine, glutamic acid, and methyltaurine.
